At Bamboo Auctions we are committed to building a team with a range of diverse skills and experiences. Our team members all bring something different to the table, but one thing that unites us is a vision to make things easier for estate agents, providing the technology and tools they need to sell properties faster and earn fairer fees.

Kay Okelana is one of our newest recruits. Joining the team as a Customer Success Manager, here Kay tells us how his journey with Bamboo Auctions has been so far:

What was your role prior to joining Bamboo?

My background is Proptech and I’ve been working in customer success for the last six years. Prior to Bamboo, I was a customer success manager at Otta, where I was responsible for building and nurturing our customer relationships. Prior to this I worked at Foxtons and as an account manager at LandTech.

What are your main responsibilities?

In my role I am responsible for managing our estate agent relationships and helping them to get as much value from our technology as possible. This means ensuring they understand how the auction process works with Bamboo and the functionality of our platform. I help with onboarding, training and working closely with my agency partners to ensure they are happy and feel comfortable when selling the benefits to their own clients. My agents see me as an extension of their team, and we work together to get the best outcomes for their vendors.

I spend time with our partners to better understand their thoughts on auctions, how they feel about them, and their plans and targets for 2025. I provide training to help them feel confident, support them with product knowledge, and assist with conversations and pricing. I also help them list properties and have conversations to understand how things are going and how they are supporting the vendor. I work with many of our London and South agency partners including Michael Graham, Berry’s, Peter Clarke, Nicol and Co, White and Sons, Sawyer and Co, Steve Gooch, and Clarendons.

What attracted you to Bamboo Auctions?

A contact saw the post advertised and shared it with me, knowing that I would be interested. I love property and I love tech so it was instantly a good fit. As I started conversations with the team and we talked about everything from the company values to the vision for the future I knew it was the place from me. The product makes so much sense and I really liked the management team. Everyone I spoke to was friendly and made me comfortable from the start. One of the biggest selling points is that Bamboo is very open to new ideas and there is space for everyone to suggest different ways of doing things. I feel like I can really be heard and make a difference and that’s important.

How would you describe the company culture?

We have a very skilled, experienced and close-knit team. It's easy to bring ideas to the table, and the culture encourages innovation. We want to grow and be better, always asking what else we can do and how best we can support each other.

What are the benefits of auctions for estate agents?

Auctions are a great way to sell the right properties faster, for the highest possible price. It’s an incredibly efficient way to transact, with sales happening in 5-6 weeks compared to the market average of over six months. For the right seller and the right property, agents are empowered by Bamboo to provide an instruction winning service with fairer fees for agents.

How has the platform evolved recently?

Recent changes have made the platform even easier to use, providing more data to help agents get more value from the technology. We have added many new features, with more to come. Our tech team are highly experienced and able to implement changes that agents want and need, quickly. It means we can constantly check in with agents to make sure the platform is the best it can be.

How do you maintain a personal touch with agents?

I regularly check in on agents with monthly and quarterly meetings where we discuss how they are finding the market, how they use the Bamboo platform and what else we can to help. I work closely with my agent partners to help them achieve their goals and I love being part of their journey. I’m looking forward to the next wave of roadmap features, which will be rolled out soon, as we keep building our reputation as the best auction tech providers in the industry.

Where can we find you when you’re not at work?

I coach at the rugby club I grew up playing for. I am currently coaching the under 15s who I have been with for the last three seasons. Volunteering is really important to me, and I have also participated in projects in America and the Virgin Islands to help rebuild areas hit by hurricanes.
