Frequently asked questions

What types of properties can I buy?

You will find all sorts of property on Bamboo Auctions. Predominantly, you can buy residential, commercial and mixed use properties, and you can also bid on land and ground rents. We’ve even had a loch and a houseboat listed for sale on our site.

What are the fees?

TRADITIONAL ONLINE AUCTION

For properties where the opening bid is less than £40,000:
A fee of £1,200 (incl VAT) is payable immediately at the end of the auction period. This amount will be taken from the £5,000 that is paid at the end of the auction. Therefore, you will be required to pay the purchase price less £3,800 to the Seller.

For properties where the opening bid is £40,000 or above:
A fee of £2,400 (incl VAT) is payable immediately at the end of the auction period. This amount will be taken from the £5,000 that is paid at the end of the auction. Therefore, you will be required to pay the purchase price less £2,600 to the Seller.

CONDITIONAL ONLINE AUCTION

A fee of £6,000 (incl VAT) is charged immediately at the end of the auction period and any outstanding amounts of the reservation fee is payable immediately after the end of auction.

Can I wait until the last second to place my bid?

Yes. Properties for sale by auction are allowed to have a reserve price, the minimum price that a property can sell for. If bids do not reach the value of your reserve price, your property will not be sold. The reserve price does not have to be made public by the auctioneer. However, the reserve price must be no more than 10% higher than the property’s guide price (the price at which the property is marketed).

Can I arrange auction finance on properties?

Yes. We have teamed up with specialist lender Together Finance to offer its short-term auction finance for all lots listed on our site, at the click of a button on the property page. This exclusive deal means that you can apply for auction finance on any property you like on our site, allowing every buyer the chance to buy UK investment property and open up the auction and housing market to more buyers.
